The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
